Community Hack Day template

Find out about our first hack day and register to join!


Our first community hack day will be DATE + TIME UTC.

The event will be hosted via Wonder at tinyurl.com/OpenWIN-HackDay1

Please register for the event so we know who to expect!

Aims

The aim for the hack day is to:

  1. Introduce interested individuals to the community, and communicate how you may benefit from participation, what kind of activities you may be able to take part in, how you will be recognised for your contribution, and what behaviours or commitment may be expected of you.
  2. Provide training on how to use the Open WIN Tools.
  3. Provide training on GitHub/GitLab and how it will be used to update this repository.
  4. Begin crafting and contributing documentation to share our training with others.

An outline of the hack-day schedule is below.

09:00 - 09:30 Welcome and introductions Orient, get to know each other
09:30 - 10:00 Lightning presentations from each of the Open Neuroimaging working group leads on new infrastructure and how you could contribute today Understand the facilities available and identify which tools you’d like to work on today
10:00 - 11:00 Meet with the infrastructure developers to choose a project(s) to hack on. Take a break when you need one! Decide which tools you would like to contribute to today
11:00 - 12:00 GitHub for collaborative document writing Able to contribute to this repository
12:00 - 13:00 Lunch!  
13:00 - 16:00 Group work on training documentation, policy and strategy Create materials and practices to share with others via the Open WIN repository
16:00 - 17:00 Feedback on group work Share successes, challenges, identify gaps and plan next stages

Have your questions answered

Before the hack day, we will host an open “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) day where you can ask questions about the event or what to expect.

The AMA will be held on Thursday 15th October, 10:00-17:00 BST (UTC+1).
